Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
