Woman Stabbed in Birmingham City Bus Shelter Attack Dies
The female victim stabbed repeatedly in the neck in an unprovoked attack at a bus stop in Birmingham has died, authorities verified.
The victim, aged 34 years, was targeted in Smallbrook Queensway, right beside the Bullring shopping centre, shortly before 9 PM GMT Friday evening, according to police statements.
The suspect, 21, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court Monday morning, facing charges for the violent incident.
He was previously accused of attempted murder but following the victim's passing charges were upgraded to include murder.
Police Response
The force said police personnel will remain around the city centre on Monday providing public assurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives.
Investigators are requesting any eyewitnesses who may have seen the accused, identified as a Black British national, reportedly dressed in an all-grey tracksuit, dark headwear, trainers and rucksack.

The knife attack occurred outside the Bullring shopping centre, across from the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station.
Police said they classified it as "unprovoked attack" with investigators stating efforts continue to determine why it happened.
Eyewitness Reports
An area worker, employed in the vicinity, described paramedic and police activity when she finished her shift around 10 PM on Friday.
She described the scene as "quite chaotic", and said some of her colleagues heard loud disturbances at about 21:00.
"A lot of my colleagues use transit services, take the tram... our security is compromised fundamentally, in the downtown area."
Ashley Birks, twenty-five, resident of Stoke, said he came to Birmingham quite frequently to see his girlfriend resident there, and was concerned about what had happened.
"It causes concern about my partner," he said.
"She lacks transportation and works at major concert locations... considering a totally random act [happened], understandably, it's terrible."
